Reporting to the Commissioner Planning, this role is responsible for corporate leadership and oversight of Strategic Policy Planning of the Planning Department, for the formation and interpretation of land use policies in the Town’s Official Plan. The incumbent will lead the Policy Planning staff, GIS team, and direct strategic priorities through the establishment of a taskforce. The role is critical in ensuring alignment of policies and strategies to guide the future growth of the municipality; for associated public consultation/participation facilitation and presentation and liaison duties; for recruitment, development and evaluation of departmental staff; and driving the long-term planning agenda for the department. The Director will also serve as the Commissioner’s representative in high-level meetings with Council and other key stakeholders such as the Province and the Region of Peel.

With a post-secondary degree in public administration, business, or closely related field and eligibility for or full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in municipal or private sector, with 5-7 years of leadership/progressive management experience at a senior level. You have significant experience at a management level in a municipal planning environment and demonstrated supervisory experience. You have demonstrated proven political awareness, the ability to make decisions involving long term strategic policies and will be someone who embodies and advocates for the Town’s mission, vision and corporate values whilst nurturing a culture of innovation and change.

Expected Compensation Range: $177,961.65 - $222,452.06 CAD
