Reporting to the Supervisor, Vendor Services, the Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for coordinating, preparing, monitoring, and maintaining the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and contractual services for the City of Whitehorse. This role provides procurement expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring all purchasing activities are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and best practices. The successful candidate will support competitive procurement processes, contract administration, supplier relationship management, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping to deliver efficient and cost-effective services to the organization and the community. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented procurement professional to contribute to a growing municipality and play a key role in supporting the City’s operational and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate has a degree in Business Administration and a Supply Chain Management designation, combined with at least five years of progressive procurement experience, including contract administration. They bring strong knowledge of procurement best practices, experience working with computerized financial and ERP systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative, they have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a strong client service focus, and the ability to deliver accurate, timely results while maintaining compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
