Founded in the early 1980s, this organization, now in its second generation of family ownership, manages a large real estate portfolio across Canada and the U.S, and a family office. The organization oversees thousands of residential rental units spanning multiple cities, combining the operational capacity of a large property company with the personal touch of a family-run enterprise. Its portfolio includes major multi-unit communities in several Canadian provinces as well as extensive rental holdings across key markets in the southeastern United States. Activities outside of real estate include investments in a variety of asset classes including; land; development; public equities; private equity; and alternatives.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Accounting and Tax Specialist serves as a critical bridge between the accounting and financial planning functions of the organization, supporting both Canadian and U.S. real estate activities and the broader corporate structure. This role blends deep technical accounting and tax expertise with forward-looking financial analysis to ensure accurate reporting, effective tax compliance, and well-informed decision-making. In addition to managing complex multi-entity transactions, the specialist contributes to system and process optimization, enhances financial controls, and supports long-term cash flow and liquidity planning. Overall, this role plays an integral part in strengthening the organization’s financial discipline and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and highly organized accounting professional who brings a CPA, CA, 5+ years of experience with a foundation in corporate, partnership, and personal tax, combined with an analytical mindset and a genuine interest in the unique complexity of family office environments, particularly those with substantial real estate operations. They thrive in roles that require curiosity, discretion, and adaptability, and are motivated by work that blends hands-on execution with problem-solving and continuous improvement. This individual is comfortable working across multiple entities and jurisdictions, proactively identifying issues, and supporting long-term planning while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. They demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to working with internal leaders, external advisors, and cross-functional partners.
