Greater Toronto Airport Authority - Head, New Revenue and Business Development

Greater Toronto Area

Hybrid

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is the operator of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport, the largest airport in Canada and one of the biggest airports in North America. Pearson Airport is more than just a transportation hub. It is an economic powerhouse that brings Canada to the world, and the world to Canada.

The Head of New Revenue and Business Development plays a critical role in shaping GTAA’s future by expanding and optimizing its revenue portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this leader is focused on strengthening the airport’s financial resilience both through the continuous improvement of existing revenue streams and by identifying new sources of revenue that extend beyond traditional passenger-based streams.

This role will re-imagine revenue diversification for GTAA: define the GTAA’s strategic direction for revenue diversification, bringing forward bold ideas, driving innovative partnerships, and building the internal and external momentum needed to execute. An example of a diversified revenue stream within GTAA is the ‘Fire and Emergency Training Institute’ (FESTI). FESTI operates as a private education centre providing world class firefighter training. It is a part of GTAA’s internal fire department structure but also generates revenue through tuition and courses.

The leader will also play a pivotal role in optimizing current revenue generating activities in the overall Commercial portfolio, identifying areas for enhancement and guiding efforts to innovate and maximize their-long term value. This role will be responsible for generating hundreds of millions in new revenue, effectively doubling the current revenue stream to fund and support the LIFT program. By leading a talented team to generate a strong portfolio of existing and new revenue opportunities, the leader ensures that GTAA is well-positioned to respond to market shifts and unlock sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will bring a strong academic foundation, including a post-secondary degree in business or a related discipline, with an MBA or equivalent advanced education considered an asset. They will be eligible to obtain and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license. With 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic growth, business development, commercialization, or corporate strategy, this leader will have a proven ability to create and scale new revenue streams within complex, multi-stakeholder organizations. They bring experience building and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong commercial and financial acumen, including the development of robust business cases, evaluation of investment opportunities, and structuring of partnerships such as joint ventures or shared-revenue models. Politically astute and enterprise-minded, they are comfortable navigating public, private, and institutional environments, influencing senior leaders, and aligning diverse stakeholders around shared objectives. They are a strategic, entrepreneurial, and adaptable leader with a high tolerance for ambiguity, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and disciplined execution.
