Job Title: Engineering Manager

Reports to: Plant Manager

Job Purpose: To manage the process of Product and Tooling design / development & quoting of new/existing Customer components.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Lead and develop engineering team to:
• Support the Production process (internal customer design change requests)
• Support the Sales process through accurate quoting processes
• Represent the best interest of Brawo Lofthouse during on or off-site customer or supplier visits.
• Collaborate with toolroom personnel (dxf's, grinding templates, drawing / CAD model updates, Parasolid files)
• Maintain best practices in document control for all electronic drawings and CAD files, reference standards, PDM, GD&T, engineer calculations and JD Edwards part number creation, BOM’s and Routers
• Lead strategic and technical oversight with a continuous improvement mindset to improve lead-times, reduce errors and increase production efficiencies through design standards
• Complete Engineering portion of Sales quotations within established standards.
• Participate in management review initiatives, develop engineering KPI’s, track performance outcomes and team member / department goals.
• Lead, coach and develop design and tool room personnel. Set priorities, manage workloads and conduct performance reviews and develop training plans. Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies.
• Collaborate with the production and quality departments on internal and external customer concerns (Deviations, QMS updates, etc.).
• Develop and maintain positive business relationships with customers and outside vendors.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Project Management experience would be an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Intermediate computer skills –Microsoft Office and Excel
• Knowledge of CAD platforms and Product Data Management platforms would be an asset
• JD Edwards experience would be an asset
• At least 8 – 10 years of previous high-volume manufacturing or design management experience preferred

OTHER COMMENTS:

This position will have an abundant amount of input from many staff members. Projects will be reviewed, undertaken and placed into priority sequential order. The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple projects at once – however the goal is to finish the project once it is started as soon as possible to obtain the return on investment.

Support of production requirements to maintain on-time product delivery, first time quality and maintain profitability.

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally required to stoop or lift light material or equipment. Work may be performed in confined spaces and/or awkward positions.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Occasional exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery (conveyors), noise and fumes.

SENSORY ATTENTION

Regular need to give close attention, either hearing or seeing, to what is happening.

MENTAL STRESS

There is some modest pressure from deadlines or other productivity standards. Work is somewhat repetitious.
