Under the direction of the Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management (AVP), the Managing Director, Facilities Development & Engineering oversees all planning, design, and construction of campus facilities and lands, ensuring they align with the institution’s goals, aesthetics, and sustainability standards. The role exists to influence, support, and implement the University’s Strategic, planning and sustainability strategies and Long-Range Space Plans and goals for institutional development through the physical and natural environment and building resources of the University. As part of the Facilities Management Division’s leadership team, the Managing Director will collaborate with leadership to set standards, design principles and construction delivery.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned facilities, planning, and capital projects executive with experience leading complex institutional portfolios, preferably within a university, healthcare, research, similarly large-scale campus environment, or a municipality. They will bring a strong track record of delivering major capital projects, managing complex planning, design and construction initiatives, and leading multidisciplinary teams in a complex and highly regulated environment. As a leader, they demonstrate strategic thinking, political acumen and sound judgment. They communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, executives and board members, while building strong relationships across functions. They delegate effectively, develop others and remain focused on results and successful outcomes.
