President & Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Institute of Steel Construction

Markham, Ontario

Hybrid

Advocate, teacher, promoter, the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) is the voice for the Canadian steel construction industry. The CISC promotes dialogue, collaboration, and commerce between industry stakeholders – advancing the benefits of steel to the consulting community, builders and buyers, academia, and government. The CISC is at the forefront of Canada’s steel industry. Uniting their members, the CISC provides the strength that unites the steel construction industry, and the force that makes the steel construction industry stronger. The CISC advocates for the steel industry by creating solutions alongside an industry that will fight tirelessly for the use of steel in construction.

The CISC seeks a President and CEO who will lead, advocate, and embody the organization's vision and mission, promoting sustainable design and the use of steel in the Canadian construction industry. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is accountable for oversight of the operations of the organization, acting as an advisor to the Board and ambassador for its members and the industry as a whole. The President & CEO will continue to deepen relationships with key stakeholders and act as the advocate for the industry nationally.

The successful candidate will be one who is passionate about steel and the construction industry and is excited to be an advocate for the industry broadly. An exceptional communicator, and willing to travel periodically (up to a week per month on average), you can influence strategies and complete messages to inspire and motivate your team, and also external stakeholders. Through your leadership, you will create a compelling vision for the industry’s future and develop distinctive goals that support the desired business outcomes; foster new ways of thinking, and drive change to transform the business and industry. You bring 15+ years of proven leadership experience, with professional experience in areas of government, business, public policy, and association management. Knowledge of, or experience working in the steel or construction industry is ideal.
