Manager of Resident Care, City of Greater Sudbury
Sudbury, ON
The City of Greater Sudbury has evolved into a dynamic and diverse regional capital that functions as the service hub for all northeastern Ontario and is composed of a rich mix of urban, suburban, rural and wilderness environments. While mining remains a major influence on the local economy, the City has diversified significantly in recent years to establish itself as a major centre of financial and business services, tourism, health care and research, education and government. One of the geographically largest municipalities in Canada, with a population of over 190,000, and a booming economy, Greater Sudbury is a warm and welcoming community.
The City is seeking an accomplished and strategic healthcare leader to serve as Manager of Resident Care at Pioneer Manor, one of the largest municipally operated long-term care homes in Ontario, currently undergoing redevelopment from 433 to 444 beds. Reporting to the Director of Long-Term Care Services, the Manager serves as the legislated Director of Nursing and Personal Care under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021. The Manager provides overall leadership, professional accountability, and operational oversight for nursing and personal care services throughout the Home. Leading a large clinical portfolio of approximately 400 nursing and personal care staff through a team of supervisory leaders, the Manager oversees clinical operations, labour relations, staffing, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, regulatory compliance, risk management, budgeting, and operational planning within a complex, highly regulated, and unionized environment. Working collaboratively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, community partners, and senior municipal leadership, the Manager ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centred care and promotes a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
With a current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, the ideal candidate brings a minimum of five years of progressive management experience within a large, complex, unionized long-term care environment. A collaborative and resident-focused healthcare leader, you possess comprehensive knowledge of long-term care operations, nursing administration, geriatric care, quality improvement, risk management, and relevant legislation, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021. You are recognized for your ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage financial, human, and physical resources, implement operational and clinical improvements, and foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning. Demonstrated strengths in relationship building, conflict resolution, change leadership, and stakeholder engagement enable you to effectively work with residents, families, staff, physicians, community partners, and regulatory agencies. Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential, while French language proficiency is considered an asset. Your leadership approach is grounded in compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional resident-centred care and positive outcomes.
Expected Compensation Range: $136,805.76 to $160,995.24 CAD.
